BERRIES

 

Strawberry - California strawberries account for 83% of the strawberries in the united states. The succulent sweet red conical fruit is as beautiful as it is healthy. Strawberries have more vitamin C than an orange, and contain no fat, no cholesterol, and are high in fiber.

 

 

Raspberry - The red raspberry, which is available year-round, is comprised of many small fruits and has a unique hallow core unlike other berries. A small, deep colored berry, which has a tender texture, a sweet flavor that is slightly tart, and a pleasant aroma. Its flavor is stronger than most other types of berries.

 


Golden Raspberry - The golden raspberry has a bright gold to orange color, a typical raspberry texture and a plump round meaty fruit. The golden raspberry has a short season and is mainly used in desserts.

 

 

Blackberry - The blackberry is sweetly tart in flavor and contains prominent seeds, which is their least desirable quality. They are excellent for desserts, jams, and preserves.

 


Blueberry - In addition to their visual appeal, intense blue color and sweet delectable flavor, blueberries are as healthy as they are tasty. Blueberries are an excellent source of fiber and vitamin C and rank #1 in antioxidants when compared to other fresh fruits and vegetables.

Cranberry - A round, dark red, berry that is very hard and too tart to be eaten plain. Cranberries are usually cooked and processed before they are eaten or dried (dehydrated) and packaged as dried fruit that can be eaten out of hand without further processing.
