Produce Express has entered the dried herb and spice business and we can now offer you a wide variety of these items. Our initial inventory will include the basics and we will expand the number of items that we carry according to demand.

  The vast majority of our customers have a shelf somewhere in the kitchen that has a row or two of new and old plastic (or glass) containers filled with Whole Black Peppercorns, Crushed Red Chiles, Nutmeg, Oregano, Cinnamon Sticks, Paprika, Fennel Seed and any number of other herbs and spices that are used on a daily basis. A little bit of research on our part revealed a variety of distributors, both large and small, that supply restaurants with these items. Further research indicated that the price for dried herbs and spices is as varied as are the distributors. For example, almost every restaurant has a large container, usually 5#, of Whole Black Peppercorns. Depending on the supplier, the price ranged from a low of $22.50 to a high of $47.50 and more restaurants had the container that was closer to the high side rather than the low. We offer 5# of Whole Black Peppercorns for $18.75, a significant savings, particularly when you consider that this is the most often used item on this shelf.

  We offer our herbs and spices in two containers, similar to the ones you have on your shelf. It is important to understand that the weight varies depending on the item. The large container will hold as much as 5# of Peppercorns, but only 3# of Crushed Red Chiles and only 1# of Bay Leaves. Similarly, the small container will hold either 1#, one-half or even one quarter of a pound of an item. All of our herbs and prices are priced by the pound and sold by container weight. We have arranged to buy our dried herbs and spices in bulk from a wholesaler in San Francisco . We then do our own packaging and labeling and this method contributes significantly to the savings in the cost of the items to our customers. The quality of our dried herbs and spices is high and we feel that we are offering them at a lower price than you are currently paying. The following items are now in stock with more to come.
