F.D.A. Recalls
Last Friday, October 14th, River Ranch Fresh Foods of Salinas, Ca. initiated a voluntary recall of 2,154 cases of various bagged salad products due to the potential of being contaminated with Listeria. The Ohio department of Agriculture conducted a routine random test that came back positive. All salad products being recalled were retail packages under the labels of Farmers Market or Hy-Vee. River Ranch does extensive testing of all ingredients before harvesting as well as equipment tests and water samples. No other tests from the F.D.A. or a third party inspector have come back positive. Produce Express uses River Ranch shredded lettuce and salad mixes. River Ranch has a strong food safety program in place and we feel confident continuing to use their product. To date no illnesses have been reported and all tests, samplings and inspections indicate the source of the contamination was not at River Ranch's facility.
