Produce Express is pleased to introduce a new line of products from The Wild Rice Exchange and Gourmet Valley Foods in Woodland, Ca. The Wild Rice Exchange is a cooperative of California rice growers and distributors who have been marketing and selling Cailfornia Wild Rice for over thirty years. During this time, they have added other premium rices to their inventory as well as dried heirloom beans. Gourmet Valley Foods is the chosen brand name for these products. We are now carrying four types of rice-20# per case- and twelve varietal beans-5# bags.

       California Wild Rice- Wild Rice is the grain-like seed of an aquatic grass and is native to North America - it has been a staple food of several Native American tribes for hundreds of years It is a natural food with no additives or preservatives. It contains a higher quality protein than brown rice, is a great source of fiber and high in vitamin B and E. $49.75 per case.
       Carnaroli Rice- this Italian rice varietal is one of three types
acceptable for use in traditional risotto dishes. $18.75 per case.
Jasmine Rice-premium grade rice from Thailand known for its sweet flavor and nutty aroma. $14.75 per case.
       Basmati Rice-basmati means ‘fragrant’ in Hindu and this Indian rice is the most popular rice in the world. $23.75 per case.
       Heirloom Beans- these dried beans are all from last year’s crop and the majority of them are grown on several small farms in the Sacramento Delta. Each bean probably has much in the way of anecdotal folklore attached to it - in the interest of time and space, it is probably best just to list the variety and hope to be able to answer questions upon request.
