Baby Red Romaine
Baby red romaine is a small loose leaf type of lettuce. The leaves, attached to a singular base, grow erect and somewhat close together to form an elongated head. They have a red wine color fading to pale green towards the rib. The flavor is very mild with a somewhat crunchy texture.
Use alone as a bed for presentation, a small Caesar type of salad or mixed with other small lettuces and greens to create elegant salads. Pile leaves on sandwiches and hamburgers.
