Oregano
Description
Oregano grows on stout bushy plants with thick stems producing small ovate fuzzy leaves. It releases an earthy and mint-like aroma and its flavor is layered with pepper, mint and balsamic notes.
Flavor can range from light and sweet to strong and spicy.
Applications/Techniques
Use fresh in sauces, marinades, soups, and pizzas.
History
A member of the mint family and similar in flavor to marjoram.
