Canned fire-roasted diced tomatoes are ripe tomatoes that have been flame-charred before being diced and preserved in their own juices or a light sauce. The roasting process imparts a smoky, slightly sweet, and caramelized flavor that enhances the natural acidity of the tomatoes. This makes them an excellent ingredient for adding depth to dishes like soups, stews, sauces, chili, and casseroles. Their texture is tender but maintains enough structure to provide body to recipes.
